4 Wonderful Albums for Your Heart, Mind, Body, and Soul

Music soothes the soul.
I have found quite a number of albums that have been encouraging, refreshing, and enjoyable for the past few months.  See what you think and let me know.

1. Give Us Rest- David Crowder*Band- This last release from the genre breaking, brain busting, awe inspiring, God loving band from Waco, Texas is a lovely end to a long saga of making lovely God loving music.  With rising rock anthems, gritty acoustic songs, and bluegrass numbers (many near the end) they truly go out on a good note.  The last song on the double CD album is “Because He Lives” says it best in regard to where the band members will go after this last album- “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.   Because He lives, all fear is gone.  Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.”  Grace on the journey ahead, DCB.  Thanks for the passion and the songs.

2. 10,000 Reasons- Matt Redman- This album from the writer of “The Heart of Worship” and “Blessed Be Your Name” is filled with songs of fire, passion, and mission.  Every other song references the “fire” in our hearts and every song focuses on bringing glory to God.  The words are a feast and the music is an anthem of a generation.  These songs inspire us to be the Church and give us a glimpse of the day we will all sing together before the throne.  Glorious days are ahead- Let Your kingdom come here on earth as it is in Heaven.  Amen.

3. The Generous Mr. Lovewell- I have listened to this album only a few times, but even though I don’t know the songs as well as I should, I love the hearts behind them all.  The album focuses on how the Church needs to be loving the needy, heroes and helpers in difficult times and dark days.  We must “Move” as one of the songs is titled.

4. Burlap to Cashmere- Burlap to Cashmere- If you listened to Christian music from the late 90s, you probably heard B2C at some point.  Their songs “Is there anybody out there?” (from the album of the same name) and “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE, from WOW 1999, I believe) are such powerful songs.  This new album from the reunited band, the first in more than 10 years, has less power but just as much, if not more, artistry.  The songs are a little calmer, but that allows the listener to enjoy their strong vocals and storytelling lyrics all the more.

Here are just four life giving albums from artists that are Christians.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  Tell me what you think in the comments below.  Much love.

  • I’m truly grateful that you shared “Because He Lives” from Give Us Rest with me. It’s a beautiful version of that song. The other songs I’ve heard from that CD are also spectacular. 84.
