I am like a Tree

A song written ages ago…

“I will pour out my spirit on your children
and my blessing on your descendants.
They will thrive like well-watered grass,
like willows by streams of running water.”

Isaiah 44

~:~

I am like a tree
Planted in Your Word
Watered by its streams
All my leaves are green
And every fruit I bear
Is a sacred offering

With my roots buried deep
In your soil of truth
Nourished by the Spirit, I’m filled
Enlivened by light of the Sun
Resting in the shade of the One
True Tree of Life

And yes I will abide
And yes in you I thrive
Like a branch unto the vine and still…

I am like a tree
Planted in Your Word
Watered by its streams
All my leaves are green
And every fruit I bear
Is a sacred offering

My fruit filled with Goodness
And Gentle Peace
Flowing from God’s Faithfulness
With Scents of Patience, Joy and Grace
Love and Kindness, sweetest taste
Gifts for a hungering world

And yes I will abide
And yes in you I thrive
Like a branch unto the vine and still…

I am like a tree
Planted in Your Word
Watered by its streams
All my leaves are green
And every fruit I bear
Is a sacred offering

When the winter comes
I will trust in you
And that the seasons will change again
Though I seem dead inside and out
Though I’ve been hollowed by the doubt
I trust that You are good

And still I will abide
And still in you I strive
Though this branch is shaking… I’ll be still

I am but a tree
Planted in Your Word
Watered by its streams
All my leaves are green
And every fruit I bear
Is a sacred offering

All my days, All my years
All my rings can attest to God’s faithfulness (repeat)

And still I will abide
In you alone I thrive
Like a branch unto the vine and still…

I am like a tree
Planted in Your Word
Watered by its streams
All my leaves are green
And every fruit I bear
Is a sacred offering

And all the trees of the field will clap their hands…

All the trees of the field will clap their hands…

All the trees of the field will clap their hands…
