A song inspired by writings of Andrew Peterson and CS Lewis.
Romans 8:19-23
I have a hunger, I have a craving, I have an urging, a deep desire
I have a thirst, I have a yearning, And it’s burning like a fire
I have a hope, no, I have a want, No, I have a need deeper than my soul
I have a deep need to be loved and be made whole
I can see it in the movies
the son who needs His father
To tell him what He needs to know
And the man whose endless travels
Take him all around the world
But he can never find his home
The story being told
hits me hard within my chest
Settles down into the core of all I am
And I know right there and then, that it’s my own
You can see it on the sidewalks,
In the malls and on the highways
In pursuit of something sweet called satisfaction
Try to fill a raging hunger,
Try to pacify that hurt
Try to find a way to fix all that is broken
And every person that I see, is a mirror of myself
And I wish that I could turn away
For it seems to me that my pursuit will never end
It hurts so much sometimes
I join in with creation’s groans
It hurts so much sometimes
I join in with that nation’s cries
It hurts so much sometimes
I join in with creation’s groans
It hurts so much sometimes
I join in with that nation’s cries
